went for a durian session with colleague last friday at east coast.....this stall was recommended by ieatishootipost blog....we tried the so called "higher end" type of durian.........mmmmmmmmmm..really really yummy......minus the "burp" part later on..
first we tried "red prawn"........not really that fantastic coz it was quite "watery". end of season...that was what the seller told us. it just $7 per kg so no complaint lah...........
golden phoenix........the durian itself is so cute. i think each durian is not heavier than 600g or 700g. though it was small but..........full of flesh. a mixture of bitter sweet.nice combination. really value for money and i like it . 1kg cost $13. we have 4 of this little durian coz we just can't get enough of it
moa san wang.....mmm..loose translation should be king of the jungle???????this was huge. the flesh is thick and the seed it big too. actually it cost much lesser than last year coz 1kg was like $18 to $20 last year but surprisingly this year it only cost $13. if i were to rate this, i will give it 3.75/5 not really up to it name.....
last but not least, we tried black pearl. we're quite lucky in the sense that it was quite rare to get this. how does it taste???????????? all five of us vote this as the best......it was really yummy...the flesh is smooth and i just dunno how to describe the taste of it..its really really good and value for money too coz 1kg just cost $10
total bill for 1 red prawn,4 little golden phoenix, 1 moa san wang and 1 black pearl=$89, so divide by 5 of us, 1 person = $17.80= value for money
golden phoenix and black pearl= two thumbs up
